Mr Harbhajan Singh Plaha is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Spire Hartswood hospital in Brentwood, Essex, offering specialist private hip and knee and general orthopaedic surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospital.

Mr Plaha is a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacements for adults with a special interest in revision hip and knee surgery as well as hand, elbow, ankle and foot surgery. He is dedicated to providing the highest possible personalised care for all his patients.

Mr Plaha has been practising orthopaedic surgery since 1979 but during his formative years he gained broad training in general and vascular surgery as well as obtaining experience in plastic surgery and the management of upper and lower limb injuries. He wanted to have a comprehensive understanding of most surgical specialities before pursuing his career in orthopaedics.

For total hip replacement surgery Mr Plaha uses as small an incision as possible so that recovery is quicker. However, he also has a special passion for hand and foot surgery in particular bunion surgery. Most of his bunion surgery does not require an overnight stay and Mr Plaha does not use a plaster or metal fixation which allows faster and more comfortable mobilisation for the patient post operatively.

Mr Harbhajan Singh Plaha offers two clinics a week at the Spire Hartswood which provides the patient a wider choice of appointment. A date for surgery, if necessary, is also arranged at the time of consultation.

Mr Plaha regularly gives presentations to GPs and patient participation groups on various topics of orthopaedic surgery.
