Professor Hitendra Patel is a leading expert in the field of urology, offering both general and specialist urological care. He specialises in urological cancers, including prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers.

Professor Patel has played a pivotal role in the training of junior urologists, extensively teaching on minimal access surgery, robotics, and simulation. Until recently, he served as the Deputy Director of the Minimal Access Surgery and Simulation Centre at University College London Hospital. He has also co-led the implementation of minimal access surgery at several prestigious institutions, including the Section of Laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Centre (URMC) in New York, University College London Hospitals, Royal Free and Whittington NHS Trusts, and Guys and St Thomas's NHS Trust.

In recognition of his contributions to the field, he was appointed an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Bart's & The London, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). More recently, he became a Professor of Surgery & Urology and the Director of Robotic Urological Surgery at University Hospital North Norway.
