Dr Aikaterini Grapsa is a distinguished consultant cardiologist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust, appointed in March 2020. She also holds an esteemed academic position as a Reader at King's College London. Dr Grapsa has a specialist interest in valvular heart disease and advanced cardiac imaging.

Dr Grapsa's illustrious career includes founding the JACC Case Reports and establishing the JACC Case Reports Peer Review Mentoring Program. She has also initiated several other significant projects, such as the DaVinci Corner. Additionally, she chairs the Women in Imaging Task Force under the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) and has served as the secretary (treasurer) for the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Valvular Heart Disease Council.

Dr Grapsa graduated from the Medical School of Ioannina and subsequently trained at Imperial College NHS Trust and the Royal Brompton Hospital. Her first consultant roles were at Papworth and Queen Elizabeth Kings Lynn Hospitals, followed by a leadership position in the echocardiography department at Kingston Hospital. She then worked at the Cleveland Clinic, becoming one of the first women to serve at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Returning to London in September 2018, she led the echocardiography department at the Royal London Hospital and served as a consultant cardiologist for Barts Health Trust.

Dr Grapsa is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the European Society of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, the American Society of Echocardiography, and the American College of Cardiology. Her contributions to the field have been recognised with several awards, including the ESC Training & Research Grant and the Young Investigator Award in 2013 for her research in pulmonary hypertension. She was also the first author of the British guidelines for echocardiography in pulmonary hypertension and has contributed to numerous European position papers and guidelines.

Dr Grapsa's areas of expertise include valvular heart disease, echocardiography, and pulmonary hypertension. Her dedication to advancing cardiac care and her numerous roles in prestigious organisations highlight her commitment to the field of cardiology.
