    Year qualified: 1994

Place of primary qualification: University of London

Mr Arbuckle graduated from St Mary’s Hospital medical school in London in 1994. After basic surgical training at St Mary’s, he trained as a registrar in the North West Thames Region. His training was completed with the London Colorectal Fellowship at University College Hospital and St Thomas’s Hospital.

Mr Arbuckle was appointed Consultant Colorectal and General surgeon in the NHS at Watford General Hospital in 2009. His main colorectal interests are in colorectal cancer surgery and inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis). He performs laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, combined with a recently introduced enhanced recovery pathway to safely accelerate the recovery period to minimise the effects of major surgery on normal bodily function.

He is a surgical lead for inflammatory bowel disease and is heavily involved in its delivery. He has trained in various techniques of haemorrhoid surgery, anal fissure treatments and fistula surgery. He also practices hernia repairs.

I live with my young family in St Albans. In my spare time I enjoy music, and play the piano regularly. I am a keen sports fan, particularly rugby and motor racing.
