    Mr Jay Smith is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Specialist in Hip and Knee Revision at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He specialises in primary and revision joint replacement surgery of both the hip and the knee. His areas of interest are knee arthroscopy, partial knee replacement, total knee replacement, revision total knee replacement, total hip replacement, revision total hip replacement and revision of metal-on-metal total hip replacement. He is one of the first orthopaedic surgeons in the UK to introduce a rapid rehabilitation programme for knee surgery. Over the past two years he has established rapid recovery programmes at three hospitals — the Robert Jones Hospital, the Maelor Hospital and the Yale Hospital in Wrexham — and more than 1,000 patients have been treated. Similar programmes are being run at NHS hospitals in Glasgow, Hillingdon Hospital in London and Torbay Hospital.

    Mr Smith undertook a Hip Fellowship gaining extensive experience in hip arthroscopy, young adult hip pathology, primary & revision hip arthroplasty. He also undertook a Knee Fellowship in the same institution covering Primary & Revision Knee Arthoplasty, Complex Arthroplasty in Sickle Cell and Haemophilia. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, British Orthopaedic Association and British Medical Association.
