Mr Jeremy Oates is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a distinguished career in the field of urology. He specialises in robotic pelvic surgery, complex urological cancer management, and retroperitoneal procedures. Mr Oates is a key member of the renowned Christie Urology team.
After completing his training, Mr Oates was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon and lead Urological Cancer clinician at Mid-Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust. He also performed major pelvic procedures at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust before moving to The Christie in 2017.
Mr Oates began his medical journey with undergraduate and Basic Surgical Training in the Mersey Deanery. He then moved to Manchester for further urological training, where he successfully submitted an MD thesis exploring the identification and behaviour of potential stem cells in kidney cancer. Following his research, he underwent higher surgical training in the North West and was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2013.
Mr Oates is an active member of the Greater Manchester Cancer Urology Pathway board and participates in several national projects aimed at improving urological cancer diagnosis and care. He is also dedicated to the education of undergraduates, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
Mr Oates's areas of expertise include robotic surgery, urological surgery, and the treatment of urological cancers. He is proficient in managing complex pelvic and retroperitoneal cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). He also specialises in prostate cancer diagnostics and the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Since his appointment, Mr Oates has been committed to providing exceptional care to his patients and advancing the field of urology through both clinical practice and education.
