Mr Johnathan Hubbard is a specialised endocrine surgeon with extensive training in Newcastle and Marseille. He has been a consultant at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) and King's College Hospital (KCH) for 20 years. Mr Hubbard has authored multiple research papers and book chapters and served as the editor of a major international textbook in endocrine surgery. He holds one of the largest volume endocrine surgical practices in the UK.
In 2004, Mr Hubbard became the first English surgeon to pass the European Board Exam in Endocrine Surgery and subsequently served as an examiner for the European Board for 15 years. He has been an executive member of the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons (BAETS) and organised the society's annual meeting in 2009. He is a fellow of several endocrine societies, including the Francophone Association (AFCE), European Society (ESES), International Society (IAES), American Association (AAES), and American Thyroid Association.
Mr Hubbard specialises in thyroid assessment and surgery, including conditions such as overactive thyroid, hypothyroidism, goitre, and thyroid cancer. He is also a leading expert in parathyroid assessment and surgery, focusing on minimally invasive approaches and managing rarer genetic causes of hyperparathyroidism and renal parathyroid disease. Additionally, he is skilled in the surgical management of adrenal diseases, including laparoscopic approaches for primary hyperaldosteronism, steroid excess (Cushing's syndrome), pheochromocytoma, and paraganglioma.
His general surgical practice encompasses groin hernia and gallbladder management, as well as the treatment of various lumps and bumps. Mr Hubbard's expertise and dedication to endocrine surgery have made him a highly respected figure in his field.
