About Mr Kapil Sahnan
Kapil Sahnan is a distinguished colorectal surgeon based in London, practicing at St Mark’s Hospital, the UK’s leading National Bowel Hospital. He manages a specialized tertiary referral practice focusing on proctology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Kapil co-leads the hospital’s IBD robotic program and annually welcomes numerous international trainees and visitors.
Kapil’s medical journey began with his undergraduate and postgraduate education at Imperial College London. His expertise was further honed with advanced training in Oxford, Bristol, and Barcelona, where he completed the prestigious European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) fellowship in robotic colorectal cancer surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, Kapil is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London, supervising PhD students. He is an active member of the ESCP Education Committee, leading the international fellowship program for pelvic floor conditions, including prolapse, bowel disturbances, and faecal incontinence. He also organizes the annual Training Village, which emphasizes laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia repair.

Recognized globally as a key opinion leader, Kapil has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications. He is also an editor for Colorectal Surgery at Frontline Gastroenterology, the official journal of the British Society of Gastroenterologists.
