About Dr Kenneth Ma
Dr Kenneth Ma is a consultant gynaecologist specialising in severe endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, and complications in early pregnancy. He is experienced in minimal access (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic) surgery, particularly in managing severe endometriosis, heavy menstrual bleeding, ovarian pathologies, fibroids, and hysterectomies.
He is skilled in ultrasound scanning, including 3D ultrasound, for the assessment of miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, recurrent miscarriages, and second-trimester miscarriages. He qualified over 15 years ago and has offered keyhole surgery since his appointment as an NHS consultant in 2017. He runs weekly ultrasound scan clinics and has cared for thousands of women experiencing complications of pregnancy, including miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies. He is passionate about delivering high-quality and compassionate care. Within the NHS, he practiced at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, where he served as clinical lead for early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology between 2017 and 2022. He also established and maintains a clinic specifically for women who have experienced second-trimester loss and provides advanced surgical procedures to minimise future risks.
He is a named surgeon at the Northwest Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Centre at St Mary’s Hospital, one of the largest tertiary endometriosis referral centres in the UK. He set up a regional referral clinic to diagnose and manage non-tubal ectopic pregnancies in the Northwest and participates in the North West Gynaecology team offering private gynaecology services covering all subspecialties. He is committed to training and has supervised specialty trainees undertaking advanced laparoscopic surgery modules in benign disease excision for several years. He has served as an associate tutor for specialty trainees and was nominated for Trainer of the Year in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2023.
