About Dr Laura-Ann McGill
Dr Laura-Ann McGill is a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in heart failure and cardiovascular imaging at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, London. She graduated with Commendation from the University of Glasgow and completed the Pan-London Heart Failure training programme, including subspecialty experience at Bart’s Heart Centre and the Harefield Hospital Transplant Centre.
She undertook a research fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital and was awarded a PhD in Cardiovascular MRI from Imperial College London. She is an expert multi-modality imager with additional accreditations in echocardiography and cardiovascular CT.
Appointed as a substantive Consultant in 2019, Dr McGill is a senior member of the Heart Failure Service at St Thomas’ Hospital. She leads the Cardiorenal Multidisciplinary Team and oversees cardiac evaluation for patients preparing for renal transplantation, working closely with nephrology and transplant teams across the region.
Dr McGill also has a strong interest in cardiovascular fitness and disease prevention. As an endurance triathlete and marathon runner, with international Age-Group Competition experience, she is familiar with modern training technologies and performance assessment. She incorporates this understanding into her practice, offering patients evidence-based guidance on maintaining and improving long-term cardiovascular health.
