About Dr Manish Kalla
GMC number: 6077098
Year qualified: 2003
Place of primary qualification: University of London
Dr Manish Kalla is a consultant cardiologist specialising in electrophysiology, with a clinical focus on the diagnosis and management of heart rhythm disorders. He is based at the Wellington Hospital and has been in post since 2017. His areas of expertise include atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia, as well as pacemaker and defibrillator implantation.
He plays a key role in delivering advanced electrophysiology services, including catheter ablation for complex arrhythmias and device therapy for patients at risk of sudden cardiac arrest. Dr Kalla is particularly skilled in performing three-dimensional mapping procedures, which support more accurate and effective treatment for patients with persistent rhythm problems.
Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in translational research aimed at understanding the mechanisms of arrhythmias and improving patient outcomes. His research interests include the development of novel ablation strategies and the role of imaging in guiding treatment.
Dr Kalla is committed to providing patient-centred care and works closely with colleagues in heart failure, imaging, and inherited cardiac conditions to deliver a comprehensive approach to cardiovascular health. He also has a keen interest in teaching and contributes to national training programmes in cardiac electrophysiology.
