A Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, Professor Marc Winslet is currently Clinical Head of Surgery and Clinical Lead for Colorectal Surgery at the Royal Free, and Head of Department of Upper GI Surgery at UCLH. He is Head of the North London Cancer Network Upper GI Tumour Board. His clinical interests are in gastro-intestinal tract (surgery), colorectal (bowel) cancer, bowel disease including inflammatory (IBD), colorectal surgery (lower GI) and gastro-intestinal disease.
Prof. Winslet qualified from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, University of London in 1981. He was appointed FRCS Eng, FRCS Edinburgh in 1985. In 1987 he was awarded the degree of Master of Surgery by the University of London. In 1988 he was appointed Hunterian Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Prof. Winslet has sat on the Council of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland, Section of Coloproctology, Royal Society Medicine, Association of Upper GI Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain & Ireland. He has published over 250 peer review articles, contributed multiple chapters to standard surgical textbooks and has written and edited four surgical text books. He has lectured both nationally and internationally in the fields of upper GI and colorectal surgery. He has co-edited of the Journal of Colorectal Disease for the past 15 years. His clinical interests include all aspects of oesophago-]gastric and colorectal surgery as well as surgical oncology.
