Mr Mario Petrou is a distinguished Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, currently practising at The Harley Street Clinic, part of HCA Healthcare UK. He specialises in complex aortic surgery and heart valve surgery, with a particular focus on mitral and tricuspid valve procedures. Mr Petrou earned his MBBS from University College London in 1990 and completed his PhD in 1996. He began his career as a cardiothoracic trainee at the Royal Brompton Hospital from 1997 to 2002, before being appointed as a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon in 2002.

In 2011, Mr Petrou moved to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where he served as Head of Programme for Complex Aortic Surgery and Clinical Lead for Cardiac Surgery.
