Mr Woods is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon based at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust and the Evelina Children's Hospital. He is among a select group of Consultant Surgeons who are dually qualified in both Medicine and Dentistry.
Mr Woods' primary areas of interest are the surgical management of congenital and acquired facial deformity (orthognathic surgery), paediatric oral & maxillofacial surgery, and surgically assisted oral rehabilitation. He provides a comprehensive range of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery services for both adults and children. This encompasses the assessment and diagnosis of diseases of the mouth and face, surgical management of benign jaw pathology, pre-orthodontic surgery, and the removal of complex and impacted teeth, including wisdom teeth and jaw cysts. Additionally, he offers advice and surgical support for bone grafting to the jaws to facilitate the placement of dental implants.
Mr Woods qualified as a Dentist from St Bart's and the Royal London Hospital in 2002. Following his graduation, he undertook training posts in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, General Dental Practice, and Special Care Dentistry. His junior surgical training included posts in Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, ENT, and Intensive Care. He was then accepted for higher surgical training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the South Thames Region. This training included posts in two Level 1 Trauma centres and two Regional Head and Neck Cancer centres.
Upon completing his higher training, Mr Woods undertook a fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and another fellowship in Maxillofacial Surgery at St George's Hospital, London.
