About Mr Matteo Massanova

GMC number: 7764779

Year qualified: 2014

Place of primary qualification: Universita degli Studi di Napoli Federico II

Mr Matteo Massanova is a distinguished Consultant Urological Surgeon, specialising in pelvic surgery and pelvic malignancies, including prostate and bladder cancer. He has been serving in this role for two years and is currently affiliated with a leading hospital. Mr Massanova is renowned for his expertise in minimally invasive surgery, particularly robotic surgery, and has successfully performed over 350 operations as the main surgeon. Notably, he is the only surgeon in his locality offering robotic intracorporeal neobladder formation following radical cystectomy.

Mr Massanova's proficiency extends to both open and robotic pelvic surgery. He has a keen interest in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate and bladder cancer, utilising advanced techniques such as flexible cystoscopy and transperineal prostate biopsy for diagnosis, and transurethral resection of bladder cancer, radical prostatectomy, and radical cystectomy with urinary diversion for treatment. In addition to his specialisation, he treats a variety of general urological conditions, including stone disease, circumcision, vasectomy, and hydrocele.

Throughout his career, Mr Massanova has performed over 250 robot-assisted radical prostatectomies, 70 radical cystectomies with urinary diversion, and 500 general urology procedures. His surgical repertoire includes stone surgeries, TURPs, circumcisions, repair of hydrocele, removal of epididymal cysts, and correction of varicocele.

Beyond his clinical achievements, Mr Massanova is an honorary lecturer at the University of Naples Federico II. His dedication to research has led to numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, with a particular emphasis on robotic surgery for prostate and bladder cancer. His contributions to both clinical practice and academic research underscore his commitment to advancing the field of urology.
