Dr Mauro Lencioni is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist based in Birmingham. With extensive experience across various health systems, he initially trained and qualified in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1995. Dr Lencioni relocated to the UK in 1997, where he specialised in cardiology with a focus on electrophysiology. His training includes time spent at major centres in the West Midlands, Manchester, and Denmark.

Dr Lencioni is a leading expert in the treatment of heart rhythm abnormalities, including palpitations, supraventricular tachycardia, and atrial fibrillation. He adopts a holistic approach to patient care, taking the time to understand how heart disorders impact his patients' quality of life and wellbeing. His treatments are tailored to meet individual needs, and he strongly believes in preventative medicine. Dr Lencioni addresses cardiovascular risk factors to reduce the likelihood of stroke and heart attacks and encourages physical activity and exercise. He is particularly adept at assessing individuals with a history of heart disease who wish to start or return to regular exercise.

In his clinical practice, Dr Lencioni performs a range of procedures and treatments. These include electrophysiology studies, cardiac ablation for atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, ectopic heartbeats, and palpitations. He also specialises in the implantation of heart rhythm recorders, ambulatory ECG monitoring, and Holter monitoring. Additionally, he performs percutaneous left atrial appendage occlusion to reduce stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation and manages abnormal heart rhythms and palpitations in individuals engaged in sports activities.

Dr Lencioni has been serving the Birmingham community since his appointment and continues to contribute significantly to the field of cardiology and electrophysiology. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys cycling, tennis, and running.
