    Frequently asked questions

  • What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?

My practice is split between elective and trauma (injury) presentations. Trauma presentations commonly include fractures, tendon, ligament and nerve injuries, and muscular injuries.

Electively the common things I see include carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome (pain, numbness, and pins & needles). I treat arthritis symptoms such as pain, stiffness, and swelling, particularly in the elder group of patients, lumps, and bumps such as ganglia and other cysts in the hand and wrists, and overuse syndromes such as tennis elbow and golfer's elbow.

This is a summary of the most common presentations.

  • What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?

The diagnostic tests I use regularly are X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, and CT. I also use nerve conduction studies. Very occasionally, I request bone scans. In certain circumstances, I perform keyhole as a diagnostic test.

In terms of trauma treatments, I regularly perform fracture fixations and soft tissue (tendon/ligament/nerve) repairs and reconstructions.

Electively my most commonly performed procedures include peripheral nerve decompression (carpal and cubital tunnel), excisions of lumps and bumps, trigger finger release, osteoarthritis treatment including arthroscopy, replacements of the joints of the wrist and fingers, wrist and finger fusions, treatment of golfer's and tennis elbow, Dupuytrens procedures including traditional surgery and enzyme injection, and steroid injections for tendinopathies or arthritis.

  • What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?

My main interests are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, tendinopathies, sports injuries (fractures, dislocations, and soft tissues injuries), joint replacement surgery, treatment of Dupuytren's disease, wide awake surgery and keyhole surgery of the hand and wrist.
