Dr Michael Mullen is a Consultant Cardiologist currently based at the NHS practice at the Barts Heart Centre in London. He also runs a private practice at the Harley Street Clinic, where he serves as the clinical lead for structural heart intervention. Dr Mullen specialises in General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology, with a keen interest in aortic stenosis, TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implant), congenital cardiology, ASD (atrial septal defect) closure, PFO (patent foramen ovale) closure, MitraClip mitral valve repair, and valvular heart disease.
Dr Mullen has nearly 20 years of experience in his field. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Newcastle University in 1988 and completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of London in 2001. He was honoured with a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 1991. Furthering his expertise, he completed a Fellowship in Congenital Heart Disease and Structural Heart Intervention at Toronto General Hospital in 2000.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Mullen is actively involved in research, focusing on valvular heart disease, novel device technology, PFO closure, congenital heart disease, TAVI, and MitraClip.
