    Mr Michael Oko is a highly experienced Consultant ENT Surgeon, specialising in ear, nose, and throat conditions. He has been a part of the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust (ULHT) since 2005. Mr Oko began his medical training in London, where he attended both St Mary’s Hospital and the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital. He qualified in 1986 and quickly distinguished himself, becoming one of only twelve trainees to reach the final for the ‘Surgeon in Training Award’ for instrument design and innovation in 1995, organised by the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

    Mr Oko has a keen interest and expertise in sleeping disorders, particularly sleep apnoea. In 2006, he founded the Snoring Disorders Centre at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston and later expanded with satellite clinics at Johnson Hospital in Spalding. His innovative sleep service at ULHT earned the NHS East Midlands Healthcare Award for service transformation. In 2011, he received the Middle East Hospitals Award for Respiratory Excellence for his efforts in raising awareness of sleep apnoea.

    Throughout his career, Mr Oko has held several leadership roles. He served as Clinical Lead for ENT from 2007 to 2011 and as Clinical Lead for General Surgery from 2009 to 2011 at ULHT. He is actively involved in campaigning for improved research and services for those suffering from sleeping disorders.

    Mr Oko’s areas of expertise include a wide range of ENT conditions and procedures. He is proficient in micro-suction for ear wax removal, nasendoscopy of the upper airway, and the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), snoring problems, and upper airway resistance syndrome. He also treats conditions such as swallowing disorders (dysphagia), tinnitus, deafness, otitis media (glue ear), vertigo, rhinitis, and laryngitis.

    Mr Oko’s dedication to his field and his patients is evident in his ongoing commitment to improving ENT and sleep disorder services. His contributions have significantly advanced the understanding and treatment of these conditions, benefiting countless patients.
