Mr Michael Sabetai, MD PhD DIC FRCS (C-Th), is a highly esteemed Consultant Cardiac Surgeon specialising in all aspects of adult heart surgery. He has been serving as a consultant cardiac and aortic surgeon at St Thomas' Hospital since 2012.

Mr Sabetai's extensive training began in the USA, where he focused on general and trauma surgery. He then moved to London to complete his PhD in cardiovascular surgery at the Imperial College School of Medicine. His cardiothoracic surgery training took place at renowned institutions including Guy's and St Thomas', Royal Brompton, and London Chest Hospitals.

To further hone his expertise, Mr Sabetai gained additional experience in aortic root surgery and surgery of the thoracic aorta at two of the leading aortic surgery centres in the USA. Under the guidance of Dr Hazim Safi at Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas, he specialised in the surgical management of thoracoabdominal aneurysms. He also trained with Dr Joe Bavaria at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, focusing on aortic root surgery and hybrid approaches to aortic arch surgery, combining surgery and stenting.

Mr Sabetai has a particular interest in the surgical treatment of the thoracic aorta, aortic root, and aortic valve surgery, including minimally invasive keyhole approaches to aortic valve replacement. Since 2012, he has been running a Thoracic Aorta Surveillance Clinic and is a core member of the Thoracic Aortic Multidisciplinary Team at St Thomas' Hospital.
