Frequently asked questions
Why do you do what you do?
I initially had a surgical background but transitioned into general practice to stay involved with teaching and maintain face-to-face contact across a wide range of patients—from children to the elderly. The broad scope, including mental health, was appealing. Moving into private GP work was about gaining control over consultation length and patient care continuity. I wanted to offer longer, more in-depth consultations—our initial appointments are 40 minutes—and ensure that patients always see the same doctor. Working with Dr Agathou means we can provide collaborative care with full access to each other’s notes and management plans.
What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?
My practice is very diverse. I see many patients with skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, acne, or concerning moles. Mental health is another major area—I often help patients struggling to navigate the NHS, offering them continuity and guidance alongside physical health monitoring. I also treat a range of routine GP issues including gastrointestinal complaints, hypertension, diabetes, and provide bespoke weight loss clinics with medications like liraglutide and semaglutide. Men's health and musculoskeletal injuries are common too, and we offer tailored health screens and menopause clinics.
What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?
We can prescribe medications directly and use Pharmacierge for rapid home delivery. Diagnostics include same-day blood tests, on-site X-rays, CT and MRI scans (usually within 5–7 days), and access to an acute assessment unit for urgent cases. We can admit patients needing immediate care, including international visitors who require rapid investigation. We work closely with in-house consultants, so we’re able to fast-track referrals—even same-day if needed. For example, we’ve had cases where patients saw a GP, specialist, and had imaging all within 48 hours.
What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?
My sub-specialist interests stem from my surgical background, particularly in managing cardiovascular risk—blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. I see a lot of men’s health issues, skin conditions requiring dermatoscope evaluation, and musculoskeletal injuries. I also focus on preventative and lifestyle medicine, offering personalised health screening and support for conditions like irritable bowel syndrome, fatty liver, and inflammatory bowel disease. Having played basketball for years, I also treat sports injuries and musculoskeletal problems frequently.
