About Dr Nicola Abigail Rosenfelder
GMC number: 4726586
Year qualified: 2000
Place of primary qualification: University of London
Dr Nicola Rosenfelder qualified from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry and undertook training in acute medicine, including accident and emergency, anaesthetics, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine and renal medicine before specialising in oncology. She completed her initial oncology training at The Royal Sussex County Hospital (6 months) and The Royal Marsden Hospital (3 years), following which she pursued her research fellowship, combining clinical research with Dr Vincent Khoo and Professor Michael Brada at The Royal Marsden Hospital, with laboratory-based research with Professor Kevin Harrington at the Institute of Cancer Research. Her main clinical research was assessing improvements in treatment accuracy using image-guided radiotherapy for the treatment of prostate cancer and benign intra-cranial tumours and she set up, ran and completed clinical trials in both areas. In the lab, she studied the use of oncoloytic viruses to target prostate cancer cells and deliver other tumoricidal therapies directly to the cancer cells.
She maintains an active interest in these areas and also undertakes a number of teaching roles both within the Royal Free and UCLH medical school, and in the Institute of Cancer Research MSc programme. Nicola is also the Trust Lead for acute oncology, neuro-oncology and metastatic spinal cord compression.
