Mr Nicos Kessaris is a Consultant Transplant Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He also holds honorary positions as a Consultant at Great Ormond Street and as a Senior Lecturer at King’s College, London. In addition to his NHS roles, Mr Kessaris sees patients privately at London Bridge Hospital and The Portland Hospital. He has been a Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ since 2012.

Mr Kessaris specialises in renal, pancreas, and paediatric transplantation. His expertise includes hand-assisted retroperitoneoscopic live donor nephrectomy, vascular access, peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion, parathyroidectomy, and general surgery for renal patients. He is the Surgical Lead for Paediatric Kidney Transplantation at Evelina London and Great Ormond Street Hospitals. Additionally, he serves as the Chair of the Surgical Safety Group at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and is a Councillor of the European Society for Organ Transplantation.

Mr Kessaris completed his Specialist Registrar training in general surgery and transplantation in London. He spent the final two years of his training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and Hammersmith Hospitals. From 2007 to 2012, he worked as a Consultant at St George’s Renal Transplant Unit, where he was the Director of Transplantation for the last two years. During his tenure, he successfully established the ABO and HLA incompatible transplant programmes.

Mr Kessaris is highly skilled in a range of procedures and treatments, including transplantation surgery, renal dialysis, kidney dialysis (peritoneal dialysis), kidney transplantation, renal transplant, pancreas transplant, and general surgery for renal patients. His areas of expertise also cover kidney disease, vascular access, and parathyroidectomy.
