Mr Karydis is a highly skilled consultant surgeon specialising in liver, pancreatic, and transplant surgery. He is currently based at Guy's Hospital in London, where he joined the transplant team in 2014. Mr Karydis graduated from the medical school of the University of Athens, Greece, in 2003 and qualified in general surgery in 2011 after completing his PhD. He further specialised in liver, pancreatic, and transplant surgery in the UK, training at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne and Guy's and St Thomas' in London.

In 2016, Mr Karydis was awarded an Honorary Senior Lecturer position at King's College London, reflecting his commitment to both clinical practice and academic research. His research interests include vascular access and pancreas transplantation, and he maintains an active research portfolio in these areas.

Mr Karydis performs a range of complex procedures, including kidney and pancreas transplantation, advanced vascular access, and peritoneal dialysis procedures for patients with end-stage kidney failure. He is also proficient in minimally invasive (""keyhole"") donor nephrectomies, enabling people to donate a kidney to a relative or friend with reduced recovery time and discomfort.

His clinical consultations cover a wide array of services, including assessment for kidney donation and transplantation, post-donation and post-transplant follow-up, and evaluation for vascular access for haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
