Dr Nowlan Selvapatt is a Consultant Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He graduated from Imperial College in 2006 and completed his specialist training in London, including an Advanced Training Programme at King’s College Hospital Liver Transplant and Intensive Care Unit.

In 2017, Dr Selvapatt was awarded a PhD from Imperial College for his research in Health Economic Analyses for Viral Hepatitis Screening Programmes. In 2016, he was invited to contribute to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Guidelines on the Management of Hepatitis C.

Dr Selvapatt has a particular interest in chronic liver disease, especially cirrhosis. He serves as the Lead for Inpatient Liver Care and provides liaison to Intensive Care. His extensive research includes numerous published papers on the complications of cirrhosis and book chapters on Acute on Chronic Liver Failure.

He regularly performs diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopies (OGD) and diagnostic colonoscopies, including the removal of polyps. His current research interests focus on improving care for patients with cirrhosis. He is actively involved in investigator-led research studies and frequently publishes original research in peer-reviewed journals, as well as presenting at international conferences.

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr Selvapatt enjoys sport, cycling, and spending time with his young family.
