About Dr Oliver Guttmann
GMC number: 6129851
Year qualified: 2005
Place of primary qualification: University of London
Dr Guttmann is a consultant cardiologist with a special interest in chest pain and coronary interventions. He is based at The Wellington Hospital and the Golders Green Outpatients and Diagnostics Centre. Alongside his colleague, Dr David Lipkin, he has recently formed the Lipkin & Guttmann Cardiology Practice, dedicated to treating patients in all areas of adult cardiology.
Dr Guttmann also practices at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, where he serves as the clinical lead for the Coronary Catheter Laboratories at Barts Heart Centre. He holds the position of Honorary Associate Professor at University College London (UCL) and is a proposal editor for Cochrane Heart. Additionally, he is a member of the working group on pericardial and myocardial disease for the European Society of Cardiology and sits on the Finance Committee of the British Cardiovascular Society.
Dr Guttmann treats all aspects of general adult cardiology and sees patients with symptoms such as high blood pressure, palpitations, and high cholesterol. He also runs a myocarditis/inflammatory heart muscle clinic, focusing on patients with cardiomyopathies, particularly myocarditis and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Dr Guttmann gained his medical qualification from University College London (UCL) in 2005, along with a first-class degree in neuroscience from Cambridge University. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2008. Following this, he trained in cardiology at the Heart Hospital, the London Chest Hospital, and Barts Heart Centre. He later achieved an MD (Res) degree from UCL for his work on atrial fibrillation and stroke in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He continues to have a keen interest in research and has published extensively in the areas of inherited inflammatory heart disease, cardiomyopathy risk stratification, and percutaneous coronary intervention outcomes.
Dr Guttmann is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. He is also an honorary associate professor at UCL and an editor for Cochrane Heart.
