Why do you do what you do?

I chose to become a General Practitioner because general practice is one of those fields of medicine that offers great flexibility. Over the past 14-15 years, I’ve worked across different rotations and seen the breadth of medicine, but general practice allows me to do different things and keep my work interesting. Variety is key to this job – it prevents burnout and keeps me motivated. I am passionate about prioritising my patients’ safety and providing a service that is functional and focused on their satisfaction.

What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?

Patients often come to see me with musculoskeletal issues such as back pain, knee pain minor injuries. I also see many paediatric cases, as well as patients with long-term conditions including diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease.

What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?

I manage the majority of cases myself and only refer patients to specialists when necessary, while continuing to follow up on their care and management.

What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?

My main areas of special interest are musculoskeletal medicine and cardiology.
