    Prof. Pallav Shah: Leading Respiratory Medicine Specialist Prof. Pallav Shah is a distinguished consultant physician specialising in respiratory medicine at the Royal Brompton Hospital. He has been serving both NHS and private patients at this prestigious institution for over 25 years. Professor Shah began his medical training at Guy's Hospital Medical School, graduating in 1989. He then went on to do specialist respiratory medicine training at several hospitals in London - the Royal Brompton Hospital, St Mary's Hospital, and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He has now had over 25 years working as a consultant physician.
    Professor Shah remains dedicated to improving his patients care, he can do so by advising on the boards of national and global guideline groups and most importantly holding the position of specialist adviser to NICE. Additionally, he was a member of the Cardiovascular, Diabetes, Renal, Respiratory and Allergy Expert Advisory Group working for the Commission on Human Medicines. This group advises the government on the suitability, safety, and efficacy of medicines and medicinal products.
    Professor Shah is active in both the research and the development of new treatments. He has developed several novel therapies; which include endobronchial valves, endobronchial coils, Vaopr and Aeriseal sealant for emphysema, lung denervation for COPD, liquid nitrogen cryospray and pulsed electrical field therapy for chronic bronchitis, and bronchial thermoplasty for asthma. He was the first to perform robotic bronchoscopy in the UK with the Ion Robotic system. He is currently developing robotic guided ablation of lung tumours.
    He has over 300 publications and several books – including his contribution as sectional editor of the thoracic section of Grays Anatomy (39th & 40th editions) and as sectional editor for respiratory section of the Oxford textbook of Medicine (6th edition). He also the author of an Atlas of Flexible Bronchoscopy and chief editor of Essentials of Clinical Pulmonology. He is a fellow of the European Respiratory Society.
