Dr Parth Paskaran is a Gastroenterologist and General Physician based at Croydon University Hospital and BMI Shirley Oaks Hospital. He has international background, having been born in Sri Lanka, raised in Western Canada and then trained as a physician in the UK qualifying from the University of Dundee in 2001. Prior to Medical School, Dr Paskaran completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta (Canda) with a major in Psychology and minor in Physics.
Dr Paskaran holds dual accreditation in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine and the entirety of his post-graduate training has been in London. He has worked at some of the most prestigious hospitals in the country including the Liver Unit at King's College Hospital and the renowned Lennard-Jones Intestinal Failure Unit at St Mark's Hospital in Harrow. Prior to taking up his consultant post at Croydon University Hospital, he was the Senior Registrar at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. Whilst in specialist training, he pursued a higher degree in management at the London Business School and was awarded a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2012.
Dr Paskaran has clinical interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Liver Disease, Endoscopy, Nutrition/Intestinal Failure and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. He has undertaken research in IBD and Nutrition and published and presented both nationally and internationally. He is the Training Lead for Endoscopy at Croydon University Hospital and the Lead Clinician for Diseases of the Liver. Beyond his clinical interests, Parth also has a great interest in ensuring excellence in healthcare provision and delivering services that are patient-centred. Much of the work Dr Paskaran undertakes as a Consultant focuses on driving innovations that improve the quality of care as well as redesigning services to improve serve patients.
Teaching and training are also integral to his practice and he has been a tutor and examiner at Imperial College London Medical School and now is an examiner at King's College Medical School.
In his spare time Dr Paskaran enjoys reading, ice hockey, travelling and spending time with his family.
