Dr Paul Kirk is a Consultant Cardiologist based at Lister Hospital Stevenage and serves as an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Brompton Hospital, specialising in advanced imaging techniques. He has been practising since his appointment in 1999, following his graduation from St George's Hospital Medical School and subsequent postgraduate training in General Medicine and Cardiology. Dr Kirk further honed his expertise during a fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Imperial College, under the mentorship of Professor Dudley Pennell.
Dr Kirk's primary focus is on General Cardiology, but he also has a keen interest in cardiac diseases during pregnancy and cardiac imaging techniques. His proficiency extends to performing coronary angiography, transthoracic echocardiography, and transoesophageal echocardiography. He is well-versed in a variety of diagnostic and treatment procedures, including Cardiac CT, Cardiac MRI, and various forms of stress echocardiography.
Throughout his career, Dr Kirk has been actively involved in research, contributing to high-ranking journals such as Circulation. His work has earned him recognition on both national and international platforms, including the prestigious 'Young Investigator of the Year' award.
Dr Kirk treats a wide range of heart conditions, including angina, arrhythmia, valvular heart disease, syncope, hypertension, heart failure, and cardiomyopathy. He is particularly noted for his expertise in managing cardiac disease in pregnancy and employing advanced cardiac imaging techniques.
