Dr Perla Eleftheriou is a well-respected Consultant Haematologist at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and HCA Healthcare UK at UCH. She is highly experienced in the management and treatment of haemoglobinopathies, rare anaemias, iron overload, iron deficiency disorders, and red cell disorders, including sickle cell disease and thalassaemia.

Dr Eleftheriou has been actively involved in research since her appointment in 2005. She is currently investigating disease-modifying agents in red cell disorders. Her work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, and she has contributed to national guidelines. Additionally, she serves as a clinical advisor to the UK Thalassaemia Society and the Thalassaemia International Federation.

Dr Eleftheriou is passionate about education and enjoys teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at UCL, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the University of Westminster. She is also the coordinator of the International Haematology Fellowship hosted at UCLH.

She is extremely focused on providing the best possible care to her patients and values patient feedback highly. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, classic music, and good food.

Dr Eleftheriou remains dedicated to advancing the field of haematology through both her clinical practice and ongoing research.
