Mr Peter Hull is a consultant in trauma and orthopaedic surgery, currently serving as a consultant orthopaedic trauma surgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. He held the position of trauma lead consultant from 2014 to 2018. Mr Hull's areas of specialist interest include pelvic and acetabular (hip socket) fractures, open fractures, multiply injured patients, and complex lower limb injuries, including foot and ankle trauma.
As one of six orthopaedic trauma surgeons with a specialist interest in complex trauma, Mr Hull regularly treats patients with multiple injuries. He also participates in the consultant on-call rota for trauma and the weekly fracture clinic, addressing all types of orthopaedic injuries.
Mr Hull completed his medical education at the University of Birmingham and undertook orthopaedic training in the West Midlands. He further honed his skills in complex trauma surgery, including pelvic and acetabular surgery, during a year at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. Additionally, he received advanced training in knee and hip replacement surgery.
Mr Hull is a sought-after specialist, receiving referrals from across the East of England for the management of pelvic and acetabular fractures and complex trauma. His academic contributions are significant, with research grants totalling £3 million, including £250,000 for distal femur fractures, £250,000 for acetabular fractures, and £2.5 million for pelvic fractures.
Outside his clinical duties, Mr Hull is an active instructor on international trauma courses and served as the invited chairman for the 2018 European AO pelvic and acetabular course.
