Dr Peysh Patel is a Consultant Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, one of the largest teaching sites in England and a renowned quaternary referral centre.
He graduated from Cambridge University with a Masters in Natural Sciences and completed a subinternship at Harvard Medical School. His postgraduate training was primarily in Leeds, with additional observerships at Wythenshawe and Royal Papworth Hospitals, and a peri-CCT fellowship in complex devices.
Dr Patel manages all aspects of adult cardiology, including palpitations, breathlessness, chest pain, and dizziness. His specific expertise lies in cardiac devices, having performed over 1000 implants of pacemakers, defibrillators, and CRT devices. He is also highly skilled in heart failure management, cardio-oncology, and preventive cardiology, focusing on traditional risk factors such as hypertension and raised cholesterol.
With a distinguished academic background, Dr Patel holds a PhD in Medicine funded by the British Heart Foundation and a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education with Distinction. He has been accredited in Echocardiography by the British Society of Echocardiography since 2016 and holds international board accreditation in cardiac devices (CCDS).
Dr Patel maintains an active research portfolio with over 100 publications and is the author of the internationally published book 'Cardiology at its Core' (2023). He currently serves on the Education Committee for the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) and lectures on cardiac rhythm management both nationally and across Europe.
Dr Patel was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in 2016 and continues to contribute significantly to the field of cardiology through his clinical practice, research, and educational roles.
