About Mr Philip Toozs-Hobson
Philip's passion for Urgynaecology started when he undertook his research into maternal childbirth injuries under the aegis of the world renowned Professor Linda Cardozo. Over the past 30 years, he has been actively involved in clinical research particularly looking at outcomes of treatment and especially surgery with the simple aim of improving care by translating research findings into better patient care. Recognised as a key opinion leader in the management of prolapse and urinary incontinence Philip has published over 230 articles in the field of Urogynaecology. His most recent research interests include the psychological impact of urinary incontinence, the effects of obesity, and strategies to improve outcomes for women at risk of preterm birth. His significant contributions to Urogynaecology have been acknowledged by the Department of Health, earning him a national Clinical Excellence Award. Philip has now stepped back from routine NHS work after 36 years, his goal remains to provide a holistic, patient-centric approach, empowering women to make informed decisions about their treatment options. Outside of his professional life, he is co-chair of the Royal College of obstetricians and Gynaecologists wellbeing committee supporting Doctors in difficulty, he enjoys walking with his wife, three grown-up children, and their dog, Spud.
