Dr Preeti Shah (BMBS, B-Med-Sci, MSc, PGCME, FRCP) is a Consultant Rheumatologist at Manchester University Foundation Trust, appointed in Trafford in 2009. She graduated from Nottingham University in 1999 and trained in the North West Deanery. Dr Shah is on the GMC specialist register and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012. She is also a senior Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester and holds roles as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medicine at Trafford and Associate Foundation Programme Director for the Trust.

Dr Shah is a highly experienced rheumatologist, treating a wide range of rheumatic diseases including Osteoporosis, Connective tissue disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Back pain, and Chronic pain syndromes such as Fibromyalgia. Her department is nationally recognised for its high-quality, protocol-driven service, ensuring rapid diagnosis, close follow-up, and access to the latest treatments. She has established a one-stop inflammatory arthritis diagnostics service and provides ultrasound assessments.

Dr Shah has a major interest in medical education, with several publications in peer-reviewed journals and invitations to speak at national meetings. As an Education sub-committee member of the British Society for Rheumatology, she has been instrumental in organising national conferences. She enjoys teaching and promoting rheumatology to undergraduates, doctors in training, and primary care professionals.

Dr Shah treats all types of arthritis, both inflammatory and non-inflammatory, as well as connective tissue diseases like Lupus and Systemic Sclerosis. She also manages systemic inflammatory conditions such as Vasculitis and Polymyalgia Rheumatica, metabolic bone disorders like Osteoporosis, and general pain syndromes including Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. Additionally, she offers treatments for soft tissue conditions such as bursitis and tendonitis. Dr Shah accepts private GP and self-referrals at The Wilmslow Hospital, 52 Alderley Road.
