Mr Puneet Plaha is a distinguished Consultant Neurosurgeon with a specialist interest in brain tumour surgery. He completed his basic medical MBBS training in 1996 and his General Surgical MS degree in 2000 from JIPMER, University of Pondicherry, India. Mr Plaha further honed his expertise by completing his neurosurgery training in Bristol and earning an MD degree from Bristol in 2010. He undertook a double fellowship in Endoscopy Neurosurgery and Skull Base Brain Tumour Surgery from Oxford between 2010 and 2012.

Since August 2013, Mr Plaha has held a substantive post as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the John Radcliffe Oxford University Hospitals. He has developed innovative techniques for minimally invasive endoscopic resection of brain tumours and has established advanced methods for awake brain tumour surgery. His extensive experience includes performing over 1000 brain tumour operations, making him one of the leading neurosurgeons in the UK for awake brain tumour surgery.

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Plaha is actively involved in research. He leads a research group focused on understanding brain networks affected by brain tumours and exploring novel surgical modalities to make brain surgery safer. His research also delves into immunotherapy for brain tumours and clinical trials for brain cancer. He has published numerous papers in his field and serves as a tutor at the College of Surgeons of England. He is also the Director of the “Oxford 3D White Fibre Course,” where he teaches neurosurgeons the anatomy and techniques of awake brain tumour surgery.

Mr Plaha's areas of expertise include brain tumour surgery (gliomas, metastasis, meningiomas, ventricular tumours including colloid cysts), awake surgery for brain tumours, minimally invasive endoscopy surgery for brain tumours, and various spinal procedures such as lumbar discectomy, excision of spinal tumours, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, laminectomy, spinal decompression, and cervical disc replacement.
