Mr Rafid Al-Mahfoudh is a distinguished Consultant Neurosurgeon and Complex Spine Surgeon at Hurstwood Park Neurosciences Centre and Royal Sussex County Hospital. He is one of the few highly specialised consultants with dual orthopaedic and neurosurgical accreditation in spinal surgery. Mr Al-Mahfoudh has also completed world-renowned specialist fellowship training in anterior skull base and minimally invasive neurosurgery in Adelaide and New York (Weill Cornell Medical College).

Mr Al-Mahfoudh has extensive experience in treating all spinal disorders and utilising endoscopic neurosurgical techniques. He has a specialist interest in degenerative spine disorders, spine tumours, trigeminal neuralgia, pituitary adenomas, and brain tumours. His expertise in these areas makes him a sought-after specialist in the field.

Mr Al-Mahfoudh began his medical career with basic surgical training in Mersey Deanery, followed by specialist neurosurgery training at the Walton Centre. He continues to contribute to the medical community as an invited lecturer for industry and international surgical societies. His dedication to the field has earned him numerous awards, travel grants, and presentation prizes.

Academically, Mr Al-Mahfoudh is highly active, with over 50 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. He is currently writing a dissertation to complete his MSc from Oxford University. He is also the Associate Editor for the International Journal of Surgery.
