Mr Ranjan Thilagarajah is a highly experienced consultant urological surgeon based at Mid Essex Health Trust, Chelmsford, where he has been serving since his appointment in 2001. Born in Greenwich, London, Mr Thilagarajah trained at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, London, and qualified with an MBBS degree in 1990. He further honed his skills and knowledge, achieving the FRCS (Eng) qualification in 1995 and later the FRCS (Urol) in 2001, marking his recognition on the Specialist Register for Urology.

Mr Thilagarajah's expertise spans a wide range of urological conditions and procedures. He has a particular interest in kidney and stone surgery, including robotic pyeloplasty and partial nephrectomy. His dedication to advancing urological surgery led him to spend a year as a Urology Fellow at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, where he specialised in laparoscopic urological surgery. Upon his return, he continued to gain extensive experience in complex stone surgery at the Institute of Urology, London.

In 2008, Mr Thilagarajah was appointed Clinical Lead of the Da Vinci Robot Surgery Service at Mid Essex Health Trust, overseeing a variety of specialities. He is also a Faculty Member of the EAU Robotic Urology Section Congress and serves as a GreenLight laser Trainer for consultants both nationally and internationally. His proficiency in performing a large number of these operations is well recognised in both the NHS and private sectors.

Mr Thilagarajah treats a range of conditions including kidney cancer, prostate disease (including cancer), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), interstitial cystitis, and recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). He is skilled in various medical tests and treatments such as REZUM Steam Therapy, Urolift, TURP, and GreenLight laser Prostatectomy.

Outside of his professional life, Mr Thilagarajah enjoys winter sports, travel, rallying in vintage cars, and gardening. He also offers remote phone consultations for patients, ensuring accessible and convenient care.
