Mr Ravi Marudanayagam is a highly skilled Consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon with extensive training and experience in the field. He graduated from JIPMER, a prestigious medical college in India, in 1995. After completing his general surgical training and senior registrar role at the same institute, he moved to the UK for further training.

In the UK, Mr Marudanayagam underwent general surgical training and specialised in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in the West Midlands deanery. He further honed his skills through fellowships in advanced laparoscopic HPB surgery at Kings College Hospital, London, and multi-organ retrieval and liver transplantation at Royal Free Hospital, London. Additionally, he gained experience in advanced laparoscopic HPB surgery at Seoul National University.

In 2010, Mr Marudanayagam was appointed as a Consultant HPB Surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He is actively involved in research and serves as a Principal/Co-investigator in several European and international trials. His primary interest lies in advanced laparoscopic liver and pancreatic resections, and he has contributed over 100 articles to peer-reviewed journals.

Mr Marudanayagam is dedicated to training and education in his field. He serves as a Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) member to the Royal College of Surgeons of England and holds the position of Educational Lead for the Minimally Invasive Liver and Pancreatic Association-UK (MILAP-UK).

Mr Marudanayagam holds several professional memberships, including the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA), European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA), and Association of Upper GI Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (AUGIS), among others. He is also a founder member of the International Laparoscopic Liver Society (ILLS) and serves as the Educational Lead for MILAP-UK. He is registered with the General Medical Council in the UK.
