Mr Richard Nobrega is a consultant urological surgeon specialising in neuro-urology, functional and reconstructive urology, practising privately with HCA Healthcare UK. He provides expert surgical care for complex urinary tract dysfunction, incontinence and bladder problems in both men and women.

He trained in medicine at University College London and completed specialist surgical training at Oxford University teaching hospitals. His clinical fellowship was undertaken within the Female, Reconstructive and Adolescent (FRA) Unit at University College London Hospital, where he was later appointed a substantive consultant in reconstructive urology. He also serves as clinical lead for neuro-urology at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, a major specialist centre for spinal cord injury care in the UK.

Mr Nobrega’s clinical expertise focuses on the assessment and surgical management of neurogenic and non-neurogenic bladder dysfunction, male and female urinary incontinence, and lower urinary tract disorders. He offers a full range of reconstructive and functional urology procedures including colposuspension, autologous fascial sling surgery, artificial urinary sphincter implantation, bladder augmentation and replacement, repair of urinary fistulae and diverticula, and continent and incontinent urinary diversion techniques.
His practice also includes holistic long-term care for patients with spinal cord injury, addressing neurogenic bladder issues such as dysreflexia, urinary stones, botulinum toxin therapy, neuromodulation and comprehensive urodynamic evaluation. He works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care tailored to each patient’s presentation.

Mr Nobrega is an active member of national and international professional societies, including the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), the European Association of Urology and the American Urological Association. He has presented and published his work widely on topics such as bladder dysfunction, reconstructive urology and neurogenic bladder management, contributing to both clinical practice and academic advancement in his field.
