Place of primary qualification: University of London

I am a Consultant Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, specialising in diagnostic cardiac imaging and in the management of valvular heart disease. I am the President of the British Society of Echocardiography, the largest national imaging society for cardiology in Europe. I run a specialised valve service for patients within the Birmingham area but also see patients with general cardiological complaints. As well as clinical and echocardiographic examination, patients presenting with suspected cardiovascular disease undergo detailed assessment including cardiopulmonary exercise testing, biomarker assay and cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging. This ensures that diagnosis, assessment and planning for treatment is state-of-the-art and provides security for patients that their condition is managed to the best of current evidence.
