    Dr Robert Sarkany is a Consultant Dermatologist and Senior Photodermatology Consultant at St John's Institute of Dermatology at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, London. He is an experienced dermatologist specialising in the treatment of skin diseases in both children and adults. His areas of expertise include skin rashes, skin cancer, sun sensitivity, and ultraviolet light therapy.

    Dr Sarkany graduated from the University of London with a bachelor's degree, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and a Doctorate. He was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003. Before his current role, he served as a Consultant Dermatologist at Mayday Hospital and St George's Hospital and Medical School.

    From 2006 to 2023, Dr Sarkany led the Photodermatology Unit at St John's Institute of Dermatology, one of the world's leading centres for the treatment and research of skin diseases. He is currently the senior consultant in the unit. In 2010, he established the National Xeroderma Pigmentosum Centre, the largest of its kind globally, and was a founding member of the Rare Disease Centre at St Thomas' Hospital.

    Dr Sarkany is actively involved in research on sunlight sensitivity, sun allergy, and ultraviolet light therapy. He frequently lectures internationally on these topics and has widely published his dermatology research. He has served as an associate editor for Rook's Textbook of Dermatology and is an Editorial Board Member of the 'Photodermatology Photoimmunology Photomedicine' Journal. He is the current President of the European Xeroderma Pigmentosum Society and has previously held roles as co-Chair of the Britain and Ireland Porphyria Network and Chair of the British Photodermatology Group.

    Dr Sarkany treats a wide range of conditions, including all types of rashes, skin lesions, skin cancers, moles, hair and nail problems, and photosensitivity. He is skilled in phototherapy and the management of cutaneous porphyrias, providing comprehensive care for both children and adults with skin problems.
