Dr. Sabiha Gati is a distinguished consultant cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, specialising in inherited cardiac conditions and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging. She leads the Sports Cardiology service, focusing on the cardiac health of both recreational and competitive athletes. Dr. Gati obtained her MBBS from Guy’s, King’s & St. Thomas’ School of Medicine in 2004 and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2007. She completed her PhD at St. George’s University in 2013 and finished her cardiology training in 2016.
Dr. Gati's expertise includes managing cardiac health in athletes, providing exercise prescriptions, and conducting cardiac screenings. She is proficient in diagnosing and treating genetic cardiomyopathies such as hypertrophic, dilated, and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy. Additionally, she is skilled in reporting cardiac MRIs. Her research interests focus on cardiac structural diseases in young individuals and athletes, refining ECG interpretation, and reducing the risk of sudden cardiac death in the young population.
Dr. Gati has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, including studies on left ventricular hypertrabeculation and cardiac screening in adolescent athletes. She is an active member of the CRY pre-participation screening programme and has received several awards for her research, including the Hinchliffe Award. Dr. Gati also serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and is a board member of the EAPC sports cardiology section. She has presented at numerous international conferences, contributing significantly to the field of sports cardiology.
