Ms Sally Ameen is a distinguished medical specialist in glaucoma and cataract surgery, currently practising at the Western Eye Hospital. She has been a part of the hospital since her appointment in 2016. Ms Ameen is highly skilled in various glaucoma procedures, including MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery), filtration surgery, and laser therapies such as Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT).

In addition to her clinical work, Ms Ameen serves as the Quality and Safety Lead at the Western Eye Hospital, demonstrating her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical practice. She is also a college tutor, mentoring over 20 trainees, and holds the position of Secretary for the Ophthalmic division of the Royal Society of Medicine. Her dedication to education is evident through her involvement in organising and chairing numerous educational events.

Ms Ameen has made significant contributions to medical research, presenting her work at various conferences, authoring two book chapters, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. She remains actively engaged in research both within her hospital and in larger national trials.

Her qualifications include an MBBS from the University of London, St George's University (2005), a BSc from the University of St Andrews (2002), and an FRCOphth from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (2012). She also holds an MSc in Medical Education from University College London (2014).

Ms Ameen finds great fulfilment in her role, particularly in the ongoing relationships she builds with her patients, guiding them through their medical journeys. Her areas of expertise include general ophthalmology, glaucoma, and cataract treatments, with a particular focus on complex cataract surgeries and advanced glaucoma interventions.
