Professor Sanjiv Jari is a distinguished Consultant Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Surgeon and an Honorary Professor at the University of Bolton. Specialising in knee problems and knee surgery, he has extensive expertise in advanced non-surgical arthritis treatments and sports injuries. His practice also focuses on personalised, less invasive knee replacements and keyhole surgery.
Professor Jari's NHS practice is based at Salford Royal Hospital, a University of Manchester Teaching Hospital, where he has been serving since 2001. He has established a dedicated knee rehabilitation and triage service, incorporating biomechanical ligament assessment using a KT-1000, a tool not commonly available in the UK. His areas of expertise include ligament reconstructive knee surgery, cartilage transplantation, and knee-cap surgery.
In addition to his clinical roles, Professor Jari is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in orthopaedic and trauma surgery at the University of Manchester. He is a national and international speaker on knee surgery and sports injuries and supervises post-graduate doctors, medical students, and international Fellows. His research interests are diverse, with ongoing studies in various aspects of lower limb surgery.
Professor Jari has published extensively, including a BSc Thesis, 19 peer-reviewed articles, and numerous abstracts and book chapters. His professional memberships include the British Trauma Society, British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
