Dr Sarmed Sami is a leading Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College London (UCL) Hospitals NHS Trust and an Honorary Associate Professor at UCL. UCL's Faculty of Medical Sciences is renowned, being ranked #1 in London for Medicine and #10 globally.

Dr Sami earned his medical degree in 2003 from the University of Baghdad, Iraq. He then pursued specialty training in both the UK and the USA, including an advanced gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, which is consistently ranked as the top hospital in the world. Additionally, he was awarded a PhD from the University of Nottingham through a National Endoscopy Research Fellowship. Dr Sami also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education and has taken on numerous educational roles, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has served as a faculty member and speaker at multiple national and international workshops and teaching courses.

Dr Sami is the founder and director of Digestive Health UK, a collaborative group of expert doctors specialising in gastroenterology and related specialties. Based in central London, Digestive Health UK aims to provide a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to patient care and empower patients through education.

In terms of research, education, and clinical care, Dr Sami has an exemplary track record. He has received several distinguished awards, including the Trainees Out of Programme Award from the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), the Cook Medical Marsha Dreyer Award from the American Society for GI Endoscopy (ASGE), and a Fellows-in-Training award from the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). He has authored and co-authored over 40 publications and research abstracts, including the current UK guidelines on oesophageal dilatation.
