    Dr Satyesh Parmar is a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon specialising in head and neck and reconstructive surgery. He practices at The Harborne Hospital and University Hospital Birmingham and also treats at The Priory Hospital in Birmingham.

    He trained in dentistry at the University of Leeds, earning his BChD in 1986 with prizes in oral surgery, children’s dentistry and prosthetics. He gained Fellowships in Dental Surgery (FDSRCS) in 1990 and in General Surgery (FRCS) in 1998. He later completed a medical degree at the University of Nottingham in 1995, receiving the Gold Medal for best medical student of the year and the Marsden Prize.

    He was appointed as an oral and maxillofacial, head and neck and reconstructive surgeon at University Hospital Birmingham in 2003.

    He has since held key leadership roles in professional bodies: past president of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, board member and treasurer of the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists, former board member of the European Head and Neck Society, chair of AOCMF UK and Europe & South Africa, and director of the European Head and Neck Course.

    His clinical interests include salivary gland cancer, head and neck cancer treatment and reconstruction, dental implants, dentoalveolar surgery, oral conditions and medicolegal work.

    He performs a wide range of procedures from tumour resection and microvascular reconstruction to implant rehabilitation post?cancer surgery.

    Dr Parmar is committed to professional education and mentoring. He organises and chairs numerous surgical courses, especially in head and neck cancer management and advanced reconstructive techniques, for trainees, consultants and allied health professionals.

    Outside clinical life, he enjoys cycling, diving, skiing and travelling. He speaks fluent English and Gujarati.
