Mr Scott Rutherford is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and the lead clinician of the Skull Base Multidisciplinary Team at Salford Royal Hospital. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Cape Town, graduating with Honours. Mr Rutherford then moved to the UK to complete his general surgical training in Leeds, followed by neurosurgical training in both Leeds and Manchester.
In 2005, Mr Rutherford completed a fellowship in skull base surgery and subsequently sub-specialised in this field. His expertise includes the management of tumours at the base of the brain, such as acoustic neuromas and meningiomas.
Mr Rutherford also treats degenerative spinal diseases, including cervical and lumbar spinal issues such as disc prolapses. He employs both surgical and non-surgical approaches to manage these conditions effectively.
With a keen interest in research, Mr Rutherford has published numerous papers and presented at national and international conferences on various neurosurgical topics. He also runs an internationally recognised sub-specialty fellowship, contributing to the advancement of neurosurgical education and practice.
