Ms Seema Seetharam is a distinguished Consultant Oncoplastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon, appointed in 2010. She completed her medical studies at Mangalore University, India, in 1995, and pursued her Basic Surgical Training in the West of Scotland region. She further specialised in Breast and Oncoplastic surgery in South East London, training at prestigious institutions such as Guys Hospital, London, and PRUH, Bromley. In 2010, she became one of the first surgeons to receive the Fellow of the European Board of Surgery Qualification (FEBS) in Breast Surgery.
Ms Seetharam is highly experienced in managing both benign and malignant breast diseases. She offers a comprehensive one-stop clinic consultation, including Triple assessment (clinical examination, imaging, and biopsy as needed), supported by a team of expert radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, and Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists. Her expertise extends to Reconstructive Breast Surgery, employing techniques such as implant-based reconstruction, Acellular Dermal Matrix (ADM), Lipofilling (fat transfer), and Nipple areolar reconstruction.
She has a particular clinical interest in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, which combines cancer surgery with plastic surgery techniques to achieve optimal cosmetic outcomes. Ms Seetharam also performs various Cosmetic Breast Surgical procedures, including Augmentation, Reduction, Mastopexy, and Symmetrisation. She provides consultations for patients with a family history of breast cancer and is actively involved in research, with numerous publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
Ms Seetharam is passionate about surgical training and has served as a Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England until 2014. She is dedicated to public education and awareness, conducting workshops and talks for GPs, patients, and the public. Additionally, she fundraises for her NHS Breast Unit. Her ethos centres on compassion and personalised care, ensuring a positive patient experience even under challenging circumstances.
