Dr Selwyn Dexter is a medical acupuncturist, assessing and treating both common and complex medical and neurological conditions. He worked as a honorary consultant physician at The University College London (NHS FoundationnTrust ) based at the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery ( 2017-2025). With over 30 years of experience in medical practice, he has worked both privately and within the National Health Service.

He is available for second opinions on difficult medical problems and diagnoses, and has built an extensive network of consultant medical and surgical specialists for ongoing advice when necessary. Dr Dexter has a specialist interest in migraine and recurrent head pain, having been attached to a specialist migraine clinic at St Bartholomew's Hospital for 15years. In addition to seeing migraine patients, he has conducted research, making novel discoveries and publishing original papers, including in the British Medical Journal. He has a particular interest in headaches related to sexual activity. Since 1995, Dr Dexter has been a fully accredited member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS).

He believes acupuncture can be a valuable treatment for migraines and musculoskeletal pain. Besides general medical conditions, medical acupuncture can also assist with gynaecological symptoms, including menstrual and pelvic pain, endometriosis, and fertility issues. He has a special interest in using acupuncture to increase tear flow in keratoconus and other dry eye conditions. Dr Dexter is recognised by most major medical insurance companies for acupuncture.

His areas of expertise with medical acupuncture include migraine and headache, back pain and other musculoskeletal pain, dry eye syndromes, women's health and fertility issues, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, low mood, insomnia, and side-effects of cancer therapy. Dr Dexter was appointed to his current role in 1995. He has contributed to the field of medical acupuncture and migraine providing expert care and innovative treatments to his patients.
